Great maiko-san photo!

You Photoshoped this one, correct? The foreground Maiko looks a little transparent, and the shadow beneath her looks a little “off” for the lighting conditions. (Not to mention it appears a slower shutter speed was used on her as opposed to the bacjground figure)

Great shot regardless though…

yeah, that’s right, Jeff. I should have made that more clear. She was walking up the street from the left toward me, and I took that picture and pasted into the foreground of the picture I took a coule seconds later as she entered the teahouse. I was going to set the transparency to 50% or something, but it looked weird, so I laid down a quick and dirty shadow, not intending to fool anyone, just to make it less creepy; but you’re right, it doesn’t seem like I got the transparency all the way back up to 100%.

I was wondering about the slight transparency, too! I didn’t quite figure out what was going on, but it reminded me that manipulation can yield interesting, but still “honest,” images. It’s the lie that tells the truth.

I think the picture of her entering the teahouse by itself would look nicer.

I’ve already got several pictures like that on the site, Nadeem. This was just to give a look at her kimono from both sides.

It does give a good view of the kimono. The transparency gave me a chance to say “Aa! Bakemono!”, which is not something I get to do every day.
