Desktop background: Ramune on ice

posted June 22, 2007

Ramune on iceRainy season has descended upon us. It rained all day today, steady and hard most of the day. It’s just letting up now at dusk, but the humidity will probably not be letting up until almost October.

This is Ramune, a drink associated with  summer in Japan, especially summer festivals. There’s a glass bead inside the neck that blocks off the mouth of the bottle, confounding novices who don’t know how to drink it yet.

Ramune tastes like lemon-lime soda with a bit of gum arabic, I think.

Wait a second… I’m having a pretty strong case of déjà vu here.

Oh, man, you’re right! I just searched “ramune” nd found it. I thought I hadn’t used that picture. Oh, well, at least the cropping is different. Scary that you remembered.

Hi, I think your webpage is great! I’m not a very active ‘post-er’ but now and again I leave a comment on a blog.

I was in Kyoto in ’06 during Sakura Matsuri. Fantastic! I must admit I am a bit envious of a person who stays there full time. I loved the city, and the people.

I was wondering if you could do me a favor.

One of my favorite memories is the chimes (koto) that plays on the subway as the doors open and close…. Any chance you could put an audio file of it on your site? or e-mail it to me?

Sorry this post doesn’t fit with your current thread.

I think it would be great to have it on my computer as it boots up!

At any rate. From Spokane USA, Good Morning and thanks a million!

    MC.
