Rokko Island, robot retirement living at its finest

Monorail, desolate shopping center “whimsically” shaped like UFO, cluster after cluster of 25-story monolitic apartment buildings. Rokko island is the ultimate dystopia. Every time I get off the monorail at Island Center station, I see this view and the first thing that pops into my mind is, “Run, Logan!” Every time.
Heh, I know what you mean. Even when it was brand new Rokko Island kind of creeped me out.
At least FBC is there, right?
I have been going around the island photographing, mostly public works of art and the occassional tree. I keep wanting to paint or mosaic over all the gray and taupe cement with something colorful and vivid… and then plant at least grass on every avaliable piece of dirt, especially all the sports fields -
Best place in Japan for “Outsiders”. “Desolate” sounds great! Would you rather be surrounded by public drunks and constant smoking? Liner doesn’t have seperate cars for men and women because they don’t play that shit in Rokko Island. There aren’t any “Chikan” on Rokko Island. Rokko Island is te only place in Japan that you can avoid all of the 3rd world perversions and backward 1950s bullshit…
