Here’s another one from Asahi on Nov. 7 about Bush’s visit, with a few more details. A bit on his schedule here from Jiji (Japanese wire service).

Here’s also a Kyoto Shimbun article from Nov. 8 about the lockdown Bush’s visit is putting on Kyoto. Another one here from Nov. 10 also from the Kyoto Shimbun on other effects of his visit on the city.

Tonight on the news they showed the Marine One presidential helicopter being unloaded at Osaka Itami Airport, so he may land there and chopper into the Imperial Palace Geihinkan. Sweet isolation.

Some intimidatingly loud choppers were buzzing us just a few minutes ago. I assume it was the Bush company announcing their presence… Urusei!

  • nils (author) said:

Yeah, they’re all over here, too. Don’t go outside and give them the finger; G-men have no sense of humor, and you don’t want to spend your wedding day in the Gulag on Diego Garcia. Sorry, man, this is my fault. The Secret Service must be reading my blog, so they want to wake up my baby during his naptime.

    Mission Accomplished!

    Again!

Nice to see that the whole administration is falling apart, though. When Marine One choppers in from the south, that will be a hell of a noise. It’s freaking huge. Reagan came to my university to give a speech in the gym. the SS locked down the Phys Ed building complex for a few days prior, so we had to swith a fencing match to an away meet.

I did step outside and snap a photo, but I had to think first, “could this in any way be interpreted as a threatening act? Do I look like an Iraqi farmer under that night vision?”
Yeah, better stay inside when I give them the finger. “Hey guys, think of the children!”

I think he arrived ! I just came back from Imadegawa Karasuma where 3 communists wagons tried to demonstrates… they are gone now. I will show the video on my blog.

I just came in as well. Actually, he just now arrived at Osaka Itami Airport, and his helicopter is probably taking off for Kyoto now.

I did give the finger down on the Kawabata the other day but there were no security men in sight and the choppers were on a lunch break.

Seriously. You sound awfully bitter, children. Maybe you ought to stick it out in Japan if you cannot deal with a United States not interested in the Democrat’s socialist utopia. We see how well that worked out in Europe, don’t we?

    “I hate Bush!”
    “Why?”
    “Because he’s evil!”
    “How?”
    “Shut up! He’s evil!”

That’s about all the argument ever adds up to. Oh well, when you grow up, you’ll fashion yourselves a few brains. Won’t that be love-r-ly. :)

Great website Nils. Some great pics, etc. I am a bit confused about your attitude toward Bush. Afraid to be mistaken for an Iraqi farmer by a Bush helicopter? You must not be seeing the same news I am seeing. Innocent people of Iraq being murdered every day in terrorist attacks from their own people, yet they keep signing up to be policeman, govt. workers, etc. These are noble people wanting simple freedoms they have never had and the invasion of Iraq made that happen. It is Saddams murdering bunch that is killing innocent people everyday. Why is the truth such a hard thing for people like you to see? Were you laughing when the World Trade Towers fell? There were over 75 nationalities represented in those two buildings. You guys can’t be too simple to understand that the attack was on the free world. You hate Bush for taking down a man that had murdered thousands of his own people and was in the midst of a modern day genocide? They are still finding bodies his men buried in dumps and alleys on a daily basis. And what is your solution to men like Hussein? Please state something other than I hate Bush on your blog. With all this time to contemplate Bush’s mistakes, surely one of you could give a solution other than I HATE BUSH.

    @Anthony & Rory:

Nobody claims that Saddam Hussein was a good man, or that it is a bad thing he is out of power. Bad, however, are many of the other things associated with it: Iraq falling back into the hands of islamic fundamentalists — with all that this entails (e.g., loss of women’s rights etc), Iraq becoming a breeding ground for terrorists (which it wasn’t before, no matter how much our president of Vice claims it was), America becoming a nation of tortures (from the government down), America using illegal chemical weapons (i.e., the very weapons that it claimed to exist in Hussein’s hands, and that were the excuse for starting an illegal war in the first place), America probably running secret gulags in countries that we “freed” from the gulags of the Soviets, and the list goes on and on.

Indeed, we, who understand these issues, are not seeing the same Fox News that you are probably seeing. We are not (solely) listening those media outlets that have distinguished themselves to be government lapdogs. May I suggest a sample of alternative sources of news for you, so we can be on the same page:

And this has what to do with Iraq? Tell me mate, when you finish drinking the kool aid and look up, what colour is the sky in your delusional little world.

I had to laugh at the ‘worst president ever’ comment. Where were you during ’92-2000? Amnesia?
