Tonight (Sept. 18) was the night of the harvest moon and the japanese moon viewing festival. It was quite clear, and here is a picture taken an hour ago to prove it. Can you spot the bunny?
Amazing shot. Any chance you have a bigger one laying around? One that I could steal and use as a desktop image (Like so many of your other pictures) for a while? ;)
That lense with its optical image stabilization (OIS) is really fantastic. I remember when that came out back in the early 90s, Sony had it on their camdorders and called it “burenbi”. This was back when their advertisement catch phrase was “smaller than a passport” (this was back when the passports were much larger, although these days they could repeat the ads again).
Sony had OIS for only a short time, because apparently the developer (Canon) wouldn’t licence it to them any more. From then on, Sony had only electronic image stabilization, a far inferior feature. Fast-forward many years and now most makers seems to offer OIS, which is all for the better.
Unfortunately, as much as I like my ultra-compact
Canon IXY-600 (SD500 in the US) http://regex.info/blog/2005-04-04/4
it certainly doesn’t have any image stabilization except an unused tripod mount. :-) It’s got 7 megapixels, but due to the small size, I’d guess that the CCD in your 4-megapixel camera would give generally better results.
The ultimate benefit of my Canon is that it’s small, and hence I actually take it along when I go out.

I don’t see a bunny, but sort of a boxer/toy soldier depending on how you look at it on the right side LOL

This shot is amazingly clear. Which camera did you use?

the full-sized one is only about 30% larger; the camera is described in the post previous to this one, and also in the left column, Lumix fz10.
