I’ve just clicked on the common theme of all these pictures of Japan I keep seeing – I couldn’t put my finger on it until just now. It looks like every surface, building and sidewalk has been scrubbed to infinite neatness and cleanliness. Is this a realistic appraisal?

I think it’s more that everything is worn smooth from years of use. and rain, rain is good at that.
