Any solution for Gmail mojibake?

posted June 6, 2005

I got an email at my Gmail account today that was composed and sent in some japanese encoding format other than unicode UTF-8. the result is mojibake that I can’t seem to decipher, whether by manually changing the format of the page or by tring to copy the text or source code to some other application. OS X 10.3 Safari.

Maybe try Camino (www.mozilla.org). I’ve found that it often displays pages correctly — or at least can be made to do so — even when Safari chokes on a page with malformed encoding.

I couldn’t do anything in any browser to get it to a readable state, but after my second follow-up email of pleading, they finally re-sent the email. Thanks
