Kyoto nightscape 14: Nijojo Castle sentry tower and western Kyoto

posted January 10, 2005

Inside the wall is darkness. Looking in, not much has changed in 400 years; Looking out, not much has stayed the same.

That is a great shot, I like it! What was the exposure time on it? It really kept the dark parts dark, but brought out the light a lot.

It was five seconds at f/5.6 at ISO 50. Obviously, there are spotlights on the wall, so the details are washed out of the white part. Trade-off.

Awesome picture: why don’t you join even the flickr community? It would be nice to see more of your photos from kyoto ;) And btw: which kind of photocamera did you use? hola

From where did you take that shot? I tried venturing up some anonymous kyoto mansions but never on horikawa street… or is this from one of the hotels across the street?

Hotel. I have frequent business there.

I’ve been registered at Flickr for a long time as kyotonils, just haven’t spent much time there.
