Once when walking down Ninenzaka I actually tripped and started to fall – as if on cue, everyone in the vicinity worked together and caught me in mid-fall and I ended up not falling (thereby avoiding the dreaded eventuality of falling on Ninenzaka). So I have about nine people to thank for saving my life, and that was seven years ago, so I guess it worked…
It must have been quite a feat to catch a 240lb, 6’3″ gaijin in mid-fall!
Cool Place and nice picture. I have been there on that stair case during Obon week and it was so hot that I about melted and ran down the steps.
