Forgive the ignorance of this gaijin, but what is oshibori?

What is oshibori anyway? Can I take a guess? Soap? Is it soap?

An oshibori is a handtowel wet with hot or cold water for cleaning and refreshing oneself at meals.

I actually beat myself up for five minutes at dinner the other week, trying to remember ‘oshibori’. The really sad part is that the first word to just leap into my head was the right one, but I dismissed it and kept searching.

Sometimes you just shouldn’t doubt your initial reaction.

(True moral of the store: Jerry needs to get back to Japan, ASAP.)
