Sakura denoument: gutters of pink snow

posted April 9, 2004

The relative wind from passing cars rather neatly sweeps the fallen cherry blossoms into the gutters. Flower pressers, go to it.
NB: The new issue of Kyoto Journal has another flavorful essay byRobert Brady at the front. Robert Brady is a master of descriptive writing. The filigree in his stories is always just enough, just right, never overwrought. Words honed like his axe to work just so.

    Cherry blossoms!! Awsome!

Anyway, I was just wondering if you could make any more wallpapers that contain the cherry blossoms, preferably a close up ^__^

    Thanks so much in advance!

Actually, I’m thinking of not making any more backgrounds at all. There are a lot of people coming here and just searching for wallpaper. Server space is running out, and I don’t want to use it up by pandering to anime freaks.

    Nils,
Your weblog is a place I love to drop by to see what’s going on in Kyoto–a city I love to remember and hope to visit again. For me, “Alive in Kyoto” is like a favorite little cafe or spot of shade in a park. I love the wallpaper and it’s a big deal for me. I was thinking before reading this thread that I’d love to help you cover bandwidth costs by sending a paypal donation. Before you do anything drastic, maybe you can add a “members” option that will let me access your large photo files for a yearly fee. Or send me your paypal infomation (I can’t find it on the site) and let me make a modest contribution.
    Best, Jonathan

Thanks, but I’m not keen on donation links on personal blogs, but as a member of Metafilter (community blog) I have donated a few times over the years.

The Kyoto community site I am working on will I hope become a more participatory site, although I have no desire to charge membership fees there either.

    Stay tuned…

    Hi Nils:

Is Robert Brady’s article in #56?

Yes, that’s right. He’s got poems or stories in almost every issue.
